The Public Inquiry Commission on relations between Indigenous Peoples and certain public services in Québec: listening, reconciliation and progress releases the report submitted to the government at the completion of its mandate.

Final report release

The month of December will mark the end of public hearings for the Public Inquiry Commission on relations between Indigenous Peoples and certain public services in Québec. From December 5th to 14th, the last testimonies will be heard at the Pena-Dumont conference room at Val-d’Or airport.

Nunavik to receive the Québec Public Inquiry

The Public Inquiry Commission on relations between Indigenous Peoples and certain public services in Québec: listening, reconciliation and progress will pursue its hearings on Inuit soil this month. Two weeks of hearings are to be set on both Hudson and Ungava coasts. The Commission will be in Kuujjuaraapik, from November 12 to 16 and in Kuujjuaq from November 19 to 23.

The Québec Inquiry Commission back in Val-d’Or

The Public Inquiry Commission on relations between Indigenous Peoples and certain public services in Québec: listening, reconciliation and progress will return to its main hearing room as hearings will resume in Val-d’Or on September 24.

Me Suzanne Arpin appointed Chief Counsel and spokesperson of the Québec Inquiry Commission

The Public Inquiry Commission on relations between Indigenous Peoples and certain public services in Québec: listening, reconciliation and progress announces the resignation of Me Christian Leblanc and Me Marie-Josée Barry-Gosselin. They will officially leave their respective functions on Friday, September 7th. Suzanne Arpin will be appointed Chief Counsel of the Commission as of Monday, September 10, 2018.

The Québec Inquiry Commission to continue its public hearings in Quebec City

The Public Inquiry Commission on relations between Indigenous Peoples and certain public services in Québec: listening, reconciliation and progress will be in Quebec City in September to hold two new weeks of public hearings. The fifth official block of hearings held outside of Val-d’Or will take place from September 4 to 14 at the Centre des Congrès de Québec.

Provincial Inquiry public hearings resume in Val-d’Or in August

After a short summer recess, the Public Inquiry Commission on relations between Indigenous Peoples and certain public services in Québec: listening, reconciliation and progress will hold two new weeks of hearings starting August 13, at the Conservatory of music and drama of Val-d’Or. 

Commissioner Jacques Viens and the Public Inquiry Commission on relations between Indigenous Peoples and certain public services in Québec: listening, reconciliation and progress team are set to undertake their final hearings stretch this fall.

Representatives from the Public Inquiry Commission on relations between Indigenous Peoples and certain public services in Québec: listening, reconciliation and progress will travel to Nunavik and Mi'gmaq territories in July, in order to offer public information sessions. 

The Public Inquiry Commission on relations between Indigenous Peoples and certain public services in Québec: listening, reconciliation and progress has announced today that a deadline for receiving new testimonies has been set for September 5, 2018.

The Public Inquiry Commission on relations between Indigenous Peoples and certain public services in Québec: listening, reconciliation and progress will hold public hearings at the Conservatory of music and drama of Val-d’Or, from June 4 to 8 and at Neoskweskau Complex in the Cree Nation of Mistissini, from June 11 to 20.

Cree Nation of Mistissini to receive CERP’s hearings

The Public Inquiry Commission on relations between Indigenous Peoples and certain public services in Québec: listening, reconciliation and progress is pleased to announce that public hearings will be held on Eeyou Istchee territory. After Montreal and Mani-Utenam, the Commission will hold hearings in the Cree Nation of Mistissini in June.

Mani-Utenam to welcome CERP hearings
The listening, reconciliation and progress Commission will hold hearings in Innu territory in May 

The Public Inquiry Commission on relations between Indigenous Peoples and certain public services in Québec: listening, reconciliation and progress’s team will be heading to the North Shore in May. 

Three weeks of hearings will be necessary to examine the issues that will be brought to the CERP’s attention. This will be the Commission’s second official hearing block outside of Val-d’Or.

Several public information sessions will be held in March

The Commission will visit the communities of Kawawachikamach, Matimekush, Kahnawake, as well as the Eeyou Istchee territory and Montreal.

The provincial Inquiry to hold hearings in Montreal

Public hearings will be held at Palais des Congrès de Montréal in February and March 2018

The Public Inquiry Commission on relations between Indigenous Peoples and certain public services in Québec: listening, reconciliation and progress will hold public hearings at the Palais des Congrès de Montréal during the months of February and March 2018. Following two weeks of hearings in Val-d’Or, in January, the Commission will travel to Montreal for a four week period. The Commissioner will hear testimonies during two blocks of hearings split into two weeks each.

October 31, 2017

First official visits in the Côte-Nord region and Eeyou Istchee territory 

Representatives from the provincial Public Inquiry Commission on relations between Indigenous Peoples and certain public services in Québec: listening, reconciliation and progress will be passing through the Côte-Nord region and Eeyou Istchee territory during the week of November 5, in order to meet with community members of these regions. Six public information sessions will be held, in Sept-Îles as well as in the Innu communities of Uashat mak Mani-utenam, Pessamit, Nutashkuan and Cree communities of Mistissini and Waswanipi.

The Québec Inquiry Commission to propose two new weeks of hearings in October

The Public Inquiry Commission on relations between Indigenous Peoples and certain public services in Québec: listening, reconciliation and progress will hold two new weeks of hearings starting October 16, 2017. During these hearings, many witnesses will come and speak about few subjects like personal stories, youth protection, police services or continuing education.

Representatives from the Public Inquiry Commission on relations between Indigenous Peoples and certain public services in Québec: listening, reconciliation and progress will be in the Algonquin community of Rapid Lake, and in La Tuque and Trois-Rivières, during the week of October 8, to offer public information sessions. Also, during the same week, the Commission will present to three public organizations, namely the Abitibi-Témiscamingue Integrated Health and Social Services Centre (CISSS), the Québec Interprofessional Health Federation (FIQ) and the Sûreté du Québec.

Representatives from the Public Inquiry Commission on relations between Indigenous Peoples and certain public services in Québec: listening, reconciliation and progress will be in the Atikamekw community of Manawan from August 15 to 17 to offer a public information session to members of the community and the Lanaudière Native Friendship Center. The presentation will take place on Tuesday, August 15, from 9:00 am at Otapi School, located at 470 Otapi Street in Manawan.
